Zamárdi is a popular resort town on the southern shore of Lake Balaton in Hungary, known for its long, grassy beaches, significant archaeological history, and world-class music festivals.

History & Description
Zamárdi has been inhabited since ancient times, with notable Iron Age and Roman remains. Its most significant archaeological find is a massive Avar cemetery discovered in 1972, providing deep insights into the 6th–9th centuries. The town was largely destroyed during the Ottoman occupation in the late 16th century and was repopulated in the 1740s. Today, it is characterized by its 3-kilometer-long free beach, which offers one of the best views of the Tihany Peninsula across the lake.
